Overview

A recent initiative to increase the ability of developing nations to engage in effective tobacco control research is the International Tobacco and Health Research and Capacity Building Program.
The program is sponsored by the Fogarty International Center of the National Institutes of Health, along with eight partners including five other NIH institutes, National Cancer Institute, National Heart Lung and Blood Institute, National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, National Institute on Drug Abuse, and the National Institute of Nursing Research, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization's Tobacco Free Initiative, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
